Lets see it all started on Wednesday the 6th of August 2008, it was about 10pm when I hoped in the back seat of JD’s car with Drew and Andy; we were on our way to Trinumeral. Trinumeral simply put is a hippie festival. Three stages, three days of shows, in the middle of the woods, mountains, and a random orchard. So let me back up a little. 3am Thursday morning, I wake up in South Carolina in extreme pain, seems sunburn on my back does not like a car with no air. I look outside the car to a familiar sign of BP Gas station, I decided to get some Aleve for my back. Fast forward to about 7am. The car wont stop swerving, but it is only the road, or a sad excuse for a road. 7:30 am we arrived at the Festival grounds, which was good since load-in was scheduled at 9 am, and i didnt have anywhere to lay down. Fast forward to about noon and the load-in is in full swing. Production company out of Florida is providing audio for 2 stages and conventional lighting, only thing is that half the audio rig has been on tour for the past 5 weeks, i hope this doesnt come back to hurt us. Lets see, we take our sweet old time tuning the PA, and monitors, we had hours to kill before 9pm when we could get our laminates to leave the campground. Only something doesnt sound right with the PA, Its a 5×5 system with 4 brands of PA, oh yeah, this will be fun. so after swapping out a NL4 with swapped pins, replacing 2 cones in a JBL dual 18″ and 2 hours later, of re-aiming the system, it is now time to try and go to the hotel. But wait, our shuttle already left. See for a crew of about 15, they gave us 2 rooms. But most people were camping anyway, only 3 of us actually slept in the room, everyone else destroyed our bathroom taking showers and cleaning up. It is now 9:30 am Friday morning, and although the last rant may have sounded like complaining, I had a blast, although nothing has been in my favor, everyone feels good after a good night sleep. And the fact that I am about to eat everything in the Continental breakfast. HA. Well, I dont have to be back on the grounds until 830pm, my shift is from 9pm-5am. so ill be back tomorrow.

sometimes its hard being away from home. especially when someone from your high school class passes away. Hannah Cintron you will be missed. its hard to cope with the fact that we will never see her again. i think it will take us all getting together again in the future, realizing that someone is missing. i have always been pretty bad at handling death, especially someone i knew personally. to be honest, hannah is the closest person to me that has passed away since my grandmother died over 10 years ago, so ive never had to deal with death on a personal level all that much. so to the class of 06′ i deeply regret that i will not be able to make it to the funeral, but someone will be there in my place. To the Cintron family, you are in my prayers. Rest in peace Hannah

Well, i last posted the night before i left Florida for Christmas Break. A lot has happened since then, so lets recap.

January- I have no idea what i did this month.

February- Foo Fighters concert, actually paid to see it, and it was one of the best shows i have ever been to.

March- umm, i got to go home for a week for spring break, upon returning to Florida landed a temp job and worked Monday night RAW, because everyone knows that i am a huge wrestling fan, but truth be told it was a lot of fun. 13 trucks in all loaded in 4 hours. we ran late, not sure why, but the dock i was working packed trucks like you dont even know.

April- same old same old school, trying to go somewhere after.

May- Present- well May 8th, just a few days ago Dave Rat came and spoke. that always makes school a lot more fun, when someone like that comes.

well now that were all caught up lets chat. you can see why i dont write very often anymore, its just hard writing about the same thing everyday. i am in my 9th month of Full Sail. and can you believe it, i actually go to a university now, which is pretty cool. but yeah, school has been my life for the past nine months. i have come upon a camera though, and as i take it on all of my adventures, i would much rather post pictures then type.

thats all for now

I guess i have a lot of catching up to do, it’s been a while. Lets see where to start. well i just finished my fourth month here at Full Sail. I fly home for two deserved weeks off for Christmas Break. I had Intro to Show Systems this month along with Production Maintenance 1. ISP (Intro to Show) was a class that taught basics of small systems Audio for up to 300 people. I learned a lot this month on EQ-ing, and learning different audio consoles. I landed a position on Behind The Scenes, which is the visit days here at Full Sail. The Show Pro main Building Live 1, is used for the final show and information center of the visit tour. the position i landed is broadcast audio engineer. Basically I have a midas legend 3000, and a feed from the main spillter and i mix for the DVD. Not going to lie, Its freaking awesome. Most of the show is just different people talking then the president of Full Sail does the last 15 minutes, but we have a jam band come in for the first 10 minutes and as people are leaving. Shows normally run on the hour every hour. Any typical BTS (Behind the Scenes) can run from 5 – 9 shows on a given Sunday. Normally there is only one BTS Sunday a month, but depending on what season it is there could be two a month. I say weekend because it take a weekend to set up. On BTS Friday we set up the tent; which is a massive info center and catering for all the guest and crew. We have to set up rows of up-right truss and drape with lighting and audio everywhere, oh and plasmas EVERYWHERE. On a BTS Saturday, we set up Live 1 the main hall. set up for Live 1 involves tearing down default set up changing the stage flying the EV X-Array doing a line check, then one or two show run through. then SIM 3, thats my favorite. Since Live 1 is a less then crap acoustic space we bring in all the RTA’s and get to hear Pink noise for about an hour. One thing i am learning here, at least for BTS, is perfection. They want it perfect for the visitors, for the most part at least. That is why every position is student run, but faculty supervised, my supervisor is Butch, very cool dude. looks like a biker and could probably kill anyone, but he knows Audio. And although i dont have him for class for a while, i get to pick his brain every month in the broadcast room. Then of course there is BTS Sunday when all the people show up to see if Full Sail is right for them. Then is the out, or tear down. And since there is some BTS only gear we get to load it into the Full Sail Truck which looks cool from the outside as a mean looking tractor trailer but inside is a nightmare. it was definitely not designed for road cases. But we get everything tore down and looking like it never happened in under 2 hours. That is including tearing down inside the tent and everything.

Well I am going to Downtown Disney tonight for the midnight showing of National Treasure 2 Book of Secrets. yeah its going to be sweet. Then lets see i have one more lab tomorrow friday the 21st at 5pm until 9pm and its a mix lab, which is basically multi track run though our Live 2 room mixed on a sound-craft K2. its fun, i could mix for hours. then its pack, sleep then leave for the airport at 6:45 am Saturday morning. Home by 1pm and relaxing can begin.

I must say though my first four months at Full Sail have been pretty heck-tic and Frustrating at time. Its all worth it. I am learning a lot and making new friends and contacts, and i wouldn’t trade it for anything. well maybe something. but i love it at Full Sail. 4 months down and 9 to go. then my career. scary but ill be ready for it.

After almost 80 days of school down here in florida, it is almost time for my first break which happens to fall on thanksgiving. and it is much needed. and i think a lot of my class is ready for a break. classes are not hard its just a lot at times. lets see if there is anything to write. well i am learning a lot, and this weekend is LDI, for all techies out there, and i will be working a 5 hour shift on that saturday on the trade show floor which is very cool, and for working i get an unlimited all access pass to any seminar or class i want to take, plus lots and lots of swag, they even ask my size because i have to wear which ever company i am orking for shirt so its gonig to be a fun weekend.

but at the same time on tuesday is my midi practical and multmedia audio final, so i have to squeeze in studying time, plus it is a BTS this weekend when all the visitors come to full sail, which ive been asked to work, but probly wont because i try not to stretch myself to thin, i learned that from fountain. there is such a thing as having to much on my plate, so if i think it is going to over stress me, i just find a way to lessen the load. i am learning also how to say no to job offers. i am trying to focus more on grades and achool. well thats about it for now. ill be home is a week so its all exciting.

wel here i sit in class, actuall its about to start. CMI, boring, tonght i get to learn all the parts of the motherboard and what they do. tonight in lab i learned GIMP, which is a cheep knock-off of photoshop, yeah it was very stupid. they treat lab like bootcamp though, not cool. i dont like that i get knocked on for my grades, it feels good, because i never used to becasue i was always a bit below an A, now that i am getting good grades, it feels good. man these lectures are boring, but i guess important. most of the consoles out there are digital, might as well know the meat and potatoes of the computers i dont know its all easy, i still have yet to be challenged academicly here. well i am running out of stuff to write,

so i am in my final week of my first months classes, and it is finals week, yay. but yeah, quiz or test everyday, with class every day. i am in the middle of my 13 straight days of class. starting from last monday the 17th- the 29th. yeah even saturday and sunday. so i have to look at a calendar to see what day it is. and i am very tired too. grade wise i am doing actually great, i cant believe how good i am doing really. i am loving florida, for the most part it does rain everyday in the afternoon, and its always hot for the most part, but you get used to it. its kind of funny because it will be say 95 outside and 50 in class, i actually wear long pants and a hoodie everyday i have class, thats how cold it is. so in one week i will be starting my new class, only one this next month, CMI (computers, MAth, and the Internet) all in one class for a month. yay. but a lot of cool things in october, a lot of my friends back homes birthdays and mine. and i am helping out with show pros full sail hauted house, on halloween, cant wait. i got my own business cards, kind of cool, i give them to people i meet that i think could help me out for a job when i am done full sail, or even when i am still here. i would like to take this time to shout out to the sound booth at FLC, ryan, tom, julius, chris, ron, robbie, randy, rita, carol land, austin, and wes. miss yall hope your having more fun without me. lets see, i did help with my first show down here, i was a lighting tech, got to gel and focus me some par cans, and they take safety here to a freaky high level, i was climbing all over the truss and one footing ladders, and they freaked out, so at least i know before it actually counts for me. during i was a spot op (snore) but hey i got my foot in the door at full sails venue, normally i would have to wait until my 5th month to help, but me being proactive, i went and met me the right people. no bad news for those of you hoping for some. thats about it for now.

so here i am sitting in class at full sail, i have been here for about three weeks going to school full time. its awesome i have class 6-7 days a week, this month i only have class from 9-1pm and 5-9pm every day for the most part, with sometimes a class on sundays from 9-1pm. its very demanding as far as school work, nothing to hard, but we cover a lot of material everyday so i just have to stay on top of it. umm. we have 3 live venues here. and although show pro students normally can get in there for class until their fifth month, i have already volunteered for one of the shows. its a venue that students have full control over sound lighting and video imag. they are labs that go on every night. full sail manages 600 bands in the southeast, and a different band comes in every night and the students finished product is a live dvd and a live cd. and its free for the artist and us students get to practice everything from rigging truss to flying speakers t pulling feed, to everything. so i volunteered fr my first one lst thursday and it was awesome, met some cool people that will hopefully be an asset to me later on, and they said come back anytime, which is what i aim for. well thats about all i am in the mood for writing, check out. www.youtube.com/faziojared for video blogs of me here at full sail.
